DMCI - Create-IT - The Glue Value of Brands
Aanleiding voor het onderzoek is in eerste instantie enige frustratie met de simplistische wijze waarop marketingboeken oplossingen voor alle problemen lijken te geven. In tweede instantie is het zo, met name in de kledingsector, dat verschillende succesvolle bedrijven zeggen niets te doen aan marketing. De postmoderne kritiek heeft in de marketingleer weer ruimte gegeven aan het belichten van culturele en sociologische aspecten van consumptie; vanuit deze invalshoek is bv te verklaren dat bedrijven zeggen niets aan marketing te doen en toch iconische merken weten te creëren. In dit onderzoek tracht hij een overkoepelend model te ontwikkelen dat een relatie legt tussen marketing inspanningen en resulterende waardeconnecties tussen merken en consumenten.

“Digitale sporen van datalekken”
Bedrijven worden steeds vaker geconfronteerd met ongewenst dataverlies. Soms is er sprake van een hacker die informatie steelt, maar veel vaker is er sprake van het lekken van informatie door onzorvuldigheid of door opzettelijk handelen van eigen medewerkers. In alle gevallen is het van het grootste belang dat vastgesteld wordt wat de omvang van de gelekte gegevens is, wie er bij betrokken zijn en waar ongeauthoriseerde kopieën van de gelekte informatie zich bevinden. Met behulp van E-Discovery technieken kunnen de betreffende IT systemen van een bedrijf in kaart gebracht worden en kan onderzoek gedaan worden naar mogelijke sporen op basis waarvan de lekkage gereconstrueerd kan worden. In de presentatie worden een aantal van deze technieken aan de hand van een praktijkvoorbeeld behandeld.

DMCI - Domain-Specific Languages for Game Production
Game productie is een multidisciplinair veld dat gebrek heeft aan software-ontwikkelingmethoden voor vroegtijdige kwaliteitsgarantie. Domein-specifieke talen (DSLs) kunnen helpen om de software kwaliteit vroegtijdig in het game ontwikkelingsproces te garanderen, omdat ze beter aansluiten op de verbeelding van domeinexperts en expressiever zijn dan talen voor algemene doeleinden. Hoewel DSLs succesvol zijn toegepast in verschillende applicatiedomeinen, is over hun toepassing op computergameontwikkeling nog nauwelijks gepubliceerd. Daarnaast ontbreekt het aan validatie van theoretische resultaten in de praktijk.

E-Discovery 2012 - E-Discovery meets Data Analytics

Voor het uitvoeren van feitenonderzoek heeft E-Discovery een onmiskenbare plaats
veroverd in de onderzoekswereld. In deze context wordt gesproken over analyse van (semi)
ongestructureerde data zoals e-mailcorrespondentie en andere documenten. Potentieel
is er ook zeer veel informatie beschikbaar in gestructureerde data over bedrijfsprocessen,
financiële verantwoording en bedrijfsunieke (en veelal kritische) applicaties waarin
handelingen van betrokkenen worden geregistreerd. In onze praktijk constateren we een
toenemende behoefte van advocaten en toezichthouders om deze data te betrekken in de
analyse. Tijdens deze presentatie behandelen we de volgende vragen:
- Wat is data-analyse en welke bedrijfsinformatie wordt daar normaliter bij betrokken?
- In welke situatie dient een organisatie gestructureerde bedrijfsinformatie te ontsluiten?
- Wat zijn de kansen en bedreigingen bij het reviewen van gestructureerde
bedrijfsinformatie?
- Hoe kan gestructureerde bedrijfsinformatie bijdragen aan efficiëntie in
'klassieke'E-Discovery?

E-Discovery 2012 - Predictive Coding in email review: Glazen Bol of Black Box?
Predictive coding is een techniek waarmee onderzoekers een computer aan de hand van
voorbeelddocumenten leren wat relevant is en wat niet. Dit lijkt de ultieme oplossing als
vervanging voor het opstellen van zoekvragen waarvan inmiddels bekend is dat ze niet erg
effectief zijn. Op zichzelf is het trainen van een patroonherkenner geen nieuwe uitvinding
en zijn de voor- en nadelen van verschillende technieken bekend. Probleem daarbij is dat
de door de computer automatisch afgeleide mathematische modellen onbegrijpelijk zijn
voor de onderzoekers. Dit lijkt haaks te staan op de wens om een controleerbaar proces te
hebben. In de presentatie wordt uitgelegd hoe predictive coding werkt, en hoe het toch
mogelijk is om de kwaliteit van dit soort technieken te controleren.

Hoe zorg je dat je zoekresultaten zo relevant mogelijk zijn? Hoe sla je de gevonden
informatie zó op dat je gegevens slim kunt doorzoeken en makkelijk kunt terugvinden?
En: hoe zorg je dat je onderzoek herhaalbaar en dus controleerbaar is? Soms zijn
geavanceerde data- en tekstminingsprogramma's de beste oplossing, maar in de praktijk
kun je vaak al ver komen met simpele trucs en relatief eenvoudige tools. In zijn voordracht
geeft Ewoud Sanders daar verschillende praktische voorbeelden van.
